have you ever experience being judge? are comfortable with it? As a human being do you often judge the people around you? or are you one of those people who stays quiet even though you can see how the world changes just because of one misunderstanding. As for me i have experience both. Being judge by other people is not fun, it hurts and inflicts major damages in your self-esteem and confidence. i always believe that those people who criticize others based on things they don't really know nothing about are just insecure people that are hiding the fact that they have the exact trait but don't like about their selves. some just thinks your a threat to them. judging other people is simply stating something you saw or here without any evidence if its true or not.
A while ago i searched the net for some insights about bigotry, for others who don't know what bigotry means, bigotry means prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyle or identifies differing from his or her own. so as i was searching i saw this blog about bigotry and the title was What is Bigotry? by Ken Eisold PhD. the blog was about bigotry against the muslims. Eisold quoted Nicholas kristoff's "the starting point isn't hatred but fear: an alarm among patriots thatb newcomers don't share their values, don't believe in democracy and may harm innocent americans" for me this quote points out that people tends to judge other by what race or religion they came from. People have assumed that if people from different races or religion migrated to their country they'll just ruin or inflict their beliefs to the existing one that country has. they think those other races are a threat to them.
Eisold also said that bigotry won't stop at all because some people are ignorants and some are just too selfish too care at all. Those people that new what was something remains silent and watch how the world misunderstand each other, creating distortion and war.
The next article i read was Prejudice and Discrimination by Saul Mcleod. Here McLeod talked about dfferent kinds of how people prejudice others. "Therefore, someone can be prejudiced towards a certain group but not discriminate against them." in this quote McLeod states the difference between prejudice and discrimination. McLeod also showed some events that occured in the past that may help people understand what those two words are.
Authoritarian Personality and stereotyping are one of the most common example that people can relate to. Stereotyping is when you believed in something unfairly like all people or things are the same based on their particular characteristics. While Authoritarian personality is forcing or making one believe to what you think is right even though it's wrong, also having negative attitude towards other people; Negative thinking can also count.
In the article McLeod also discussed on using conformity as an explanation of prejudice and discrimination. It says that conforming is when someone adopts the group's behavior he/she is in. For those kinds of people, what their groups believes in, are the normal standards that a society should follow that's what they think. Social norms aren't permanent they just over time so this type of prejudice depends on what social norms they are in.
In conclusion, People judge other easily. People should at least avoid judging others quickly and should get to know them first because what may seemed wrong for you is actually the right one. many people have suffered because of this, workers such as OFW are often mistreate in other countries because people categorize them easily on the standards they believe, not giving them a chance to show what they really can do. Some people misunderstands or misinterpret what the other party is delivering and see it as a threat so they'll start a ar against that person o country. if people could just be more understanding and less ignorant the world could be a better place for everyone disregarding what race or religion they come from.
